Unlocking Creativity: The Power of Storytelling!

On Saturday 14th September, our members had the pleasure of attending an enriching seminar on “Discovering the Art of Storytelling” during the Rotary Month theme “Basic Education & Literacy”. 📚✏️

Our heartfelt thanks to guest speaker, Rotarian Jeevesh Augnoo, who generously shared his time and expertise, guiding us through creative storytelling techniques and leading some enjoyable word games. 🙏

Both the Interact and Rotaract Clubs of Montebello participated, and the session began with a fun icebreaker 🧊. Rotarian Jeevesh had us share our favorite biscuits 🍪 and make a case for why they should be crowned the best biscuit in the world! It didn’t take long for everyone to relax, as the room filled with laughter while we passionately described our snack choices.

Using these light-hearted biscuit stories, Rotarian Jeevesh demonstrated how the structure of memorable tales often follows a classic story arc, with the climax serving as the pivotal turning point.

Storytelling is an essential skill, even in academic settings. Yet, under pressure, generating ideas—especially when assigned a specific title—can be tough. To help us overcome this, Rotarian Jeevesh introduced engaging games that got everyone involved. Together, we crafted three unique stories using just 26 words each! One of these stories beautifully reflected the core values of the Rotary family.

This insightful session was an excellent opportunity to refine our writing skills and become more creative storytellers.
