It was with great pleasure that members of the Rotary Club of Montebello welcomed 🤗 Dr. Mukund Krishna Oolun for an engaging and insightful presentation during the Club Meeting held on Wednesday 11th October. ⚡

With the advent of the Internet in the 1980s and the rapid advancements in communication technologies, the world has become a true global village — one without borders or barriers. The information superhighways have drastically transformed our lives. Today, we have access to everything from social media and banking to travel — right from our mobile phones.

One major trend shaping our present and future is the Internet of Things (IoT) — a vast network of physical devices, vehicles, appliances, and objects embedded with sensors, software, and network connectivity, allowing them to collect and exchange data. 💫

The latest disruption: OpenAI tools such as ChatGPT, launched in 2022. This AI-powered language model can generate human-like text based on context and interaction history. It can answer questions, compose articles, create social media posts, write code, draft essays, and more. While many fear such technology might replace human effort, the reality is that humans still retain critical thinking skills and control — making technology a tool to boost productivity, not replace it. 💯

This thought-provoking talk encouraged members to reflect 🤔 on the speed of technological evolution and how it is continuously reshaping the world around us. The topic, vast and fascinating, led to an engaging and lively Q&A session.
