🌟 Joint Project at Ashraya School for Special Education Needs – Nelamangala 🏫

Monday, 29th January 2024

It was a day of compassion, connection, and collaboration as President Leena of the Rotary Club of Montebello had the honour of visiting Ashraya School, a Special Education Needs institution located in Nelamangala, Bangalore. This impactful visit was part of a joint project with our Sister Club, RC Bangalore Lakeside, and marked a meaningful milestone in cross-border Rotary service.

Ashraya School is a haven for children with various disabilities, where they are lovingly guided through their development and learning journeys. President Leena spent quality time with the children, who welcomed her with open hearts, warm smiles, and eyes full of curiosity and affection. 💖

The day began with the children’s morning routine – a heartfelt prayer session, the national anthem, followed by yoga and breathing exercises, forming a nurturing and balanced start. Each child has a unique story, and the dedication of the teachers, administrators, and even some parents—who actively participate to support both the school and their own children—is nothing short of inspiring. 🙏

The school focuses on teaching essential life skills such as greetings, personal care, and independent eating habits, laying the foundation for autonomy and dignity. As part of the joint project, RC Montebello supported Ashraya School by donating:

  • School materials to aid alternative teaching methods,

  • A lamination machine for creating reusable educational charts, and

  • A few chairs to improve classroom comfort and functionality. 🪑📚

Before bidding farewell, Pdt Leena distributed biscuits and juice to the children, whose joy and excitement were contagious. 🍪🧃 The Rotary Club of Nepal also joined the event, taking the opportunity to observe and learn more about the power of collaboration between clubs across borders.

This project is a shining example of how global partnerships within Rotary can bring tangible change, love, and hope to communities in need. RC Montebello extends its heartfelt gratitude to:

  • IPP Prasanna Kumari

  • Director of Service Projects, Rtn Sharmistha Tiwari

  • Pdt Veeresh Naidu

  • And the entire team at RC Bangalore Lakeside

for their exceptional leadership and warm hospitality throughout this experience. Together, we are not just creating impact—we are creating hope. 🌍💪
