Mandate 2024-25 Rotary
June 23, 2025
During the month of June — when we celebrate World Environment Day
and World Oceans Day
— the Rotary Club of Montebello ran its collaborative project with Eco-Sud, in support of coral restoration and wetlands preservation.

The primary mission of Eco-Sud is to fervently protect the Mauritian territory biodiversity and natural environment of Mauritius for present and future generations.

On top of raising awareness and educating the public on ecological issues, and protecting endangered species and sites across the island , the NGO also promotes agroecology to help build a resilient, organic local community — especially in the south of the island.
The Montebello Rotarians had the pleasure of being guided by Vinayagen, a key Eco-Sud team member, during an educational outing to the coral nurseries
, where our team assisted in their maintenance.

Furthermore, the team explored the vital role of wetlands and mangroves at the Ramsar site in Pointe Jérôme. There is still much to be done to protect our precious ecosystems, and the Club is determined to contribute sustainably and regularly to this crucial cause.
