🌊🌱SOS Mangrove: Next-Gen Nature Protectors! 🌊🌱

🌿 Stepping into the Magic of Mangroves! 🌟

What an amazing day for the Rotaract Club of Montebello!

On Sunday, 20th April, we had the incredible opportunity to dive into the world of mangroves during the Mangrove Citizen Science session organized by Reef Conservation Mauritius at the stunning Pointe d’Esny. 🌱🌊

We discovered just how magical mangroves are β€” learning where they grow, how they first came to Mauritius, and why they are absolutely vital in protecting our ecosystems! From providing safe homes for countless species to connecting the land and the sea, mangroves truly are nature’s superheroes! πŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒŽ

To take things even further, we explored the Mangrove Matters mobile app, giving us a hands-on way to record real data and support ongoing conservation efforts! πŸ“²πŸŒΏ

A huge shoutout to Mr. Ismael from Bis Lamer for such an engaging and eye-opening session, and a special thanks to our very own Rotaractor Harshita for leading this inspiring project with so much passion and energy! ✨

A joint activity by Interact Club of Montebello & Interact Club of Le Bocage in collaboration with Reef Conservation

As part of Citizen Science Week, our Interactors had a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of young scientists and environmental advocates! πŸ§ͺ🌿

With passionate guidance from Mr. Ismael and Mr. Ashley, the participants explored:

πŸ” The fascinating world of mangroves – their species, habitat, and ecological importance

🌿 How mangroves help combat coastal erosion and support marine biodiversity

πŸ“² How to collect field data using the SOS Mangrove app – snapping photos and submitting real-time findings

πŸ’§ Testing and comparing pH levels of mangrove water vs bottled water – an eye-opening discovery!

🚍 They also explored the Bis Lamer (the mobile marine education unit), where they gained in-depth insights into marine conservation and the delicate balance of our coastal ecosystems. 🐠🌊

Beyond science, it was a day of learning, laughter, and lasting connections πŸ€— as both clubs bonded through shared purpose and passion.

πŸ‘ Kudos to our young changemakers for being part of a powerful environmental movement! 🌍πŸ’ͺ

πŸ“Έ Stay tuned for highlights from Batch 2πŸ˜‰
